The painting is inspired by the song Blackbird by the Beatles. After reading up to 50 of these “poems” I was in a dark place. I didn’t think I could paint about the subject. I started practicing guitar to try to get the images out of my head. I was practicing Blackbird. When you are learning a song you are focused on the notes, not the words. As I was playing the words popped in my head: Take these broken Wings and learn to fly, all your life you were only waiting for this moment to be free. That song is why I participated. Hope for a brighter future. |
